Coronavirus contactless card limits of Visa and MasterCard in Europe 2020, by country
Contactless card limits across Europe grew substantially in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, as contactless payments were promoted across the continent. Changes become evident to see when compared against a similar overview for 2019. Back then, there were only six countries in Europe where the contactless payment limit was 30 euros or higher. North Macedonia, for example, had a contactless card limit of 12 euros. In 2020, this had more than tripled and reached 41 euros.
