Finland had the slowest 5G speed in the Nordics
Finland ranks last among the Nordic countries in terms of average 5G upload and download speed. While Norway had the fastest average 5G upload speed in 2023 at almost 39 Mbps, Finland reached close to 27 Mbps. Furthermore, Finland had the slowest average 5G download speed at almost 225 Mbps in the same year.In general, the 5G coverage in Finland has been increasing since 2020. While the coverage of urban households increased from 12.4 percent in 2020, to almost 95 percent in 2023, rural households reached a 5G coverage of close to 78 percent the same year. The coverage was the highest in the capital region Uusimaa, including Finland's capital city Helsinki, at 51 percent as of 2023. Regional 5G coverage got less the further north the region is located. Lapland and Kainuu ranked last, with a coverage of two percent each the same year.
